premium brands report

"Beyond. Premium Brands 2030" was a student project that grew into something more than the sum of it parts. through a series of re-writes and re-re-writes, this report, meant to analyze the possible futures of premium brands, developed into something i can say i'm pretty proud of.

the assignment was part of a trend forecasting course: we were tasked with researching the ongoing  changes in the luxury and premium segments and formulating predictions based on those observables. the main challenges were: keeping the 2030 horizon in mind and toeing the tricky line between luxury and premium. the luxury segment holds immense influence over what is to be expected of premium brands, but the two are not the same and were to be treated as separate areas of interest.

in the end, we decided to explore the following paths: new ideas about ownership, about local heritage, and about the importance of experiences over objects. each direction of change was supported by relevant signals of change; those, in turn, were built on the foundation of real-world examples. the report then took a step further and apart from explaining the societal shifts, it explored their significance to businesses. with the project team, we brainstormed possible solutions that brands could implement in order to stay ahead of the described changes; we provided concrete strategies, as well as an analysis of risks and opportunities that came with them.

my role, beside that of a researcher, was being in charge of the visual side of the project. i made sure that the different parts of the report fit together satisfyingly and that the project was not only informative, but also intuitive and easy to navigate. keeping in mind that such publications are usually meant to be flipped through and not read back to back, i kept the design coherent and understandable: with consistent layouts that visually distinguished the different sections in print, as well as with a fully clickable navigation menu for those reading the report in digital form. I stayed on top of the typography, colors, and visuals, supporting my team through the putting-everything-together process.
