wedding invites

this set of wedding stationery is part of an ongoing project that, apart from the presented invitations and RSVP cards, will still include a range of wedding projects: reception signage, menu and program cards, escort cards, and more.

the design process began with a very clear direction in mind: the newlyweds' desire for the wedding's visual identity to be inspired by blue tiles from southern spain. the tile designs in light shades of blue were meant to combine artsy vibes with an elegant touch. in order to contrast the blue-on-white image of the front of the card, i kept the back in a shade of blue that was light enough to match the tiles, but dark enough to support the white text. the font choices were a reflection of the rest of the design — an old-timey, artistic cursive was met with an elegant sans-serif for maximum legibility.

the invitation's format — a pretty unassuming A6 — was chosen due to the wedding's eco-friendly stance. it's two-sided, with no folding, to keep paper usage in check. sustainability took center stage when it came to paper choices as well — a recycled 300g paper for all prints.

the gallery includes not just the winning design but also the runners-up, referring to the client's original idea of preparing several versions of the invite and alternating between them randomly for a playful twist. although this concept was set aside, aspects of it remained: the front of the cards features one standout tile, yet there are eight different versions, each with its unique design. this approach invites guests to compare and revel in their special invites.

finally, due to the trilingual nature of the wedding, the entire process had an extra layer of fun. three languages, two versions each (covering ceremony or reception invites) — it was a copywriting dance of sorts.
